The Quebec Winter Carnival (French: Carnaval de Québec), commonly known in both English and French as Carnaval, is a pre-Lenten festival held in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. After being held intermittently since 1894, the Carnaval de Québec has been celebrated annually since 1955. [ 1 ] Every year, thousands of visitors flock to the Québec Winter Carnival to enjoy a host of activities for all ages, including night parades, snow sculptures, and musical performances. The Québec Winter Carnival has been a magical part of winter since Carnaval de Quebec is the largest and most well-known Mardi Gras celebration in the province. The festival takes place over the course of two weeks, and features a range of activities for all ages. One of the most popular events is the Grande Parade , which sees costumed revelers marching through the streets of Quebec City. For a period of 10 days, the city transforms into a winter wonderland, featuring numerous ice and snow sculptures, the 100%-made-of Ice Palace of Bonhomme, the "Laser Game Evolution" at the Citadelle de Quebec, two magically enchanting Night parades, and Musical Evenings in a fairy-tale setting.
