As we enter Mardi Gras season, I would like to invite you, your family, and your friends to come experience Mardi Gras in Slidell. After being rained out of its usual Sunday spot, the Krewe of Dionysus will now roll Friday right before the Krewe of Selene. This co-ed krewe was established in 2010 by a group of Carnival veterans who wanted to bring the merriment of Mardi Gras to the streets of Slidell in a high-quality, family-oriented, nighttime parade. Features 550+ riders, 23 floats, 17 marching bands and, 16 cheer and dancing groups. (Staff photo by Scott Threlkeld, The Times-Picayune) The Krewe of Mona Lisa and MoonPie, founded in 1984 by artists Charlotte Lowry Collins and Pat Hart along with their husbands, was created to add a creative twist to Slidell’s Mardi Gras celebrations. Due to forecasts of rain, Sunday's Krewe of Dionysus parade in Slidell has been rescheduled. Don Shea, a krewe member and float lieutenant, said Dionysus will now roll on Friday, Feb. 28. The SLIDELL, La. — It’s not every day you see a full Mardi Gras parade inside a Walmart, but in Slidell, it’s a tradition that’s been going strong for 25 years. Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade.
