There are also other events and supportive initiatives throughout the year. SGLMG began in 1978 as a political protest for equality and now: -celebrates LGBTQIA+ identity-advocates for equality 1982's Mardi Gras Parade route, showed the starting area beside the Town Hall. The Parade began along George and Liverpool Streets, then onto Oxford and Flinders Streets and into Moore Park.
