Thorpe Park opened its doors for the very first time on May 24th, 1979 – making us one of the oldest UK theme parks. The park has transformed dramatically over the past forty-three years, going from a quaint family day out to the UK’s most thrilling theme parks! Want to learn more? From 30th November 2023 we’re launching a fresh new look for Thorpe Park – complete with a new logo and vibrant colour palette. Here’s a few notes: The new logo reminds us a lot of the Drayton Manor rebranding. It's going to take some getting used to seeing this new logo but change is good! Over the past few years, the park logo has been incorporated into events such as Mardi Gras, Carnival, Ookboterfest and of course Fright Nights. An enticing early season event at Thorpe would be amazing, but at the moment while the foundation has been laid (well at least it has a nice logo), Mardi Gras needs a lot of work if it is going to become an annual Spring must-do. Let's just hope the rest of this year's event lineup is better! More about the Park. Thorpe Park review Mardi Gras, a new event introduced at Thorpe Park for the 2022 season, is the first event in the theme park's calendar. Taking place for a month in mid-Spring, in 2022 it runs from 19th May to 19th June. Thorpe Park opened in 1979 on the site of a former quarry. The park was purchased by The Tussauds Group in 1998 and the logo received a short-lived new design the following year. The initial version of the 'infinity' logo design introduced from 2001. An update altering the colours and textures. A revamp with new title font and altering the loops.
