We are excited to welcome Tulanians in this annual tradition where they can expect New Orleans king cake, Mardi Gras beads, and good times with fellow alumni. Welcome to the 2025 carnival season in New Orleans, one of the biggest holidays in Louisiana. Every year, over three million people are on the streets of New Orleans during the weekend, Lundi Gras, and Mardi Gras day. On Tuesday, Mardi Gras or “Fat Tuesday” alone, over one million people are on the streets. This year, Mardi Gras Break and Spring Break are combined, scheduled Saturday, March 1, 2025 through Sunday, March 9, 2025. Classes resume on Monday, March 10, 2025. At Tulane, many departments across campus collaborate to educate students and implement protocols and policies designed to help them celebrate safely. Tulane University is closed on Lundi Gras, Monday, March 3 and Mardi Gras, Tuesday, March 4 for the Mardi Gras holiday. Every year, Tulane's NROTC Battalion hosts one of the largest drill meets in the nation.
