Mardi Gras at The Wharf is Washington DC's biggest Mardi Gras parade. The event on March 1, 2025 will feature floats, beads, fireworks, and live music. Washington Mardi Gras is celebrating 75 years this year. Meet the 2025 king, queen, chairman Attorney Rico Alvendia will reign over Carnival season celebrations in the nation's capital in January Mardi Gras celebrations, head to the Wharf for a taste of New Orleans. The parade is kicking off at Blair Alley at 3:30pm near Shake Shack. The event is completely free to attend and will conclude Kids can join in on the festivities with Mardi Gras-themed craft stations while the adults sip on Thrasher’s Rum Hurricanes. The celebration will conclude with a fireworks finale over the water. Alexandria’s Buzz Bakeshop is taking pre-orders for fluffy and soft purple, green, and gold King Cakes ($35), which can be picked up from Saturday to Fat Tuesday. Enjoy Mardi Gras at Dauphine’s on March 1 from 6:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Mardi Gras is about music, parades, picnics, floats and so much excitement.
