First up is a Pre-party on Thursday, February 27 from 7:00pm to midnight at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room. The Baton Rouge Mardi Gras Festival is returning for its 12th year, and once again, it's a two-part celebration. A pre-party will take place from 7 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, Feb. 27, at Henry The 12th Annual Baton Rouge Mardi Gras Festival is family friendly and free to the public. It features continuous live music of various genres, a Vendor’s Village and Food Court filled with festival food favorites for this annual celebration. Lawn seating, so bring your chairs. The stage lineup will feature blues, soul, R&B, reggae, gospel, jazz, pop/rock, spoken word, comedy and Mardi Screenings of “We’re Going Down to the Mardi Gras:The Making of Henry Turner Jr.’s Mardi Gras Festival,” will be shown at the River Center Library at 2:00, 3:30 and 5:00pm, located right next to the festival grounds. The 44 minute documentary is narrated by Turner and was produced by Michele Barnes for her Rebirth Shield Film Productions.
