We also had Mona Liza for our cabin steward and enjoyed her. We also had a deck 12 aft balcony and loved it. I went on Mardi Gras 3 weeks ago. My wife, two young kids and me. I sailed a lot as a kid (mostly Carnival but also RC and NCL) so on the MG I went platinum. It helped a lot with the lines for embarkation, guest services and disembarking. However, you’re right on. It’s quite crowded and the elevators are too small. Each ship swaps out (most of) the passengers every week. You could have a great set of passengers get off and a set of grumpy party Karens embark. I have been on 9 Carnival cruises, and when I was on Mardi Gras in 2022 I overheard many folks saying they only wanted to cruise on XL class ships, and no other. I didn't hear any complaining.
