Named “ Carnegie Carnival ,” charter members created a season that spans from Carnival Petition in October to Twelfth Night in January, culminating with the Carnegie Carnival parades held Decatur, GA — Mead Road Mardi Gras will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The annual parade and party will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, along Mead Road in Decatur. Emily and Dave Berg founded the event 20 years ago as a neighborhood gathering on Mead Road, and it has flourished over the years. Due to threat of inclement weather on Tuesday, Athens' Mardi Gras activities will take place Monday.
