Balcony cabins midship-stern on the starboard sign you may smell the smokers below you (if that bothers you) If you can grab one of those balconies that begin a row of cabins of the same category , as #14495 as we had. (same cruise rate as cabins) next door . We booked the Mardi Gras due to being a new ship and that it went out of Port Canaveral. My son lives in Orlando so it was an easy decision to make. I am platinum on CCL and Diamond on RCCL. I will compare the perks in a later post. Embarkation Being platinum we were allowed to check in earlier to get an early time to embark. I agree with most of what’s been said but as a Cloud 9 Spa fan I hated the Thalassa pool on Mardi Gras, much nicer on the Vista class (Dream class still best). Loved the food options on Mardi Gras, Shaq’s Chicken is great, never ate a Guy’s burger on Mardi Gras. We are sailing on the Ruby Princess Feb 25th. We will be on the ship for Fat Tuesday. Find a Cruise Last year we had a suite on deck 12, was a corner bump out balcony, loved it! A couple weeks ago had a cabin in Havana area on deck 8 and loved the privacy and outside area that comes with Havana cabins. What time does disembarkation begin on the Mardi Gras? Not the walk-off (carry your own luggage)but regular disembarkation (where one picks-up their own luggage in the arrival building). Mardi Gras is Carnival's flagship. I would much rather go to Half Moon Cay than Nassau however and I don't think anyone would disagree with that. So it really depends, are you more of a ship cruiser or a destination cruiser. If the ship is your destination, then Mardi Gras. If you're more interested in the ports of call, then Vista.
