What to Expect at the Barn Bash. The Barn Bash is held at the Aquarius Float Barn 1517 31 st , a 20,000-square-foot warehouse where many of the Mardi Gras floats are stored. This gives you a unique opportunity to see the floats up close before the big parade. In addition to the floats, the Barn Bash also features a live band, food, beer, and wine. Mardi Gras Kick-Off Parade. On the First Saturday of Galveston Mardi Gras Season, this parade officially kicks-off Mardi Gras in Galveston. The parade is filled with spectacular floats, beads, doubloons, and marching bands. The noon parade begins at 57th and Seawall and heads east towards 25th street.
