With a massive parade, food booths, live entertainment, and a lot of beads, Universal Mardi Gras is an annual event for guests of Universal Studios — and Passholders can have a little extra fun during the festivities. Riding on a float in a Mardi Gras parade — bestowing coveted baubles into the outstretched hands of a jazzed crowd — can be quite a thrill. Fortunately for those with a yen to play Santa Claus, some parading krewes let outsiders join in the fun — for a price. Mardi Gras Float Riding Restrictions Riders must check in at a minimum of one-hour prior to parade step- off. Upon check-in, all riders 18 years old or older must sign a float rider waiver and anyone who is under age 18 must have a parent or legal guardian age 18 or order present to sign on their behalf. Every step of the Mardi Gras Ride and Dine experience went smoothly in my person opinion. This was impressive considering it was just the second night this experience had been offered for 2024. The longest float in Mardi Gras at over 300 feet long with over 250 riders and nine parts, "Pontchartrain Beach, Then and Now," is one among the parade's well-known floats. extends nearly the full length of the krewe's Mid-City den, where it is being decorated to bring back memories of the long-gone amusement park Pontchartrain Beach, which Signature floats including the animated Butterfly King Float, Jester, His Majesty's Bandwagon, and the Boeuf Gras will be joined by floats with titles such as Nouveau Cirque, Moulin Rouge, and Pelléas Mélisande. The 457 riders on 29 floats will be throwing float-specific beads and sports towels, stainless cups, wildflower kits, bubble kits Mardi Gras has taken over the Red Coconut Club and transformed it into the Cursed Coconut Club. The themed nightclub & lounge features Mardi Gras decor, along with live music and specialty drinks. In addition, the Mardi Gras festivities extend to CityWalk with specially-themed food and drink offerings in several venues. Each Mardi Gras float that uses 120-volt fixed electrical wiring must register annually with the electrical division of the department of safety and permits and have an official annual electrical inspection sticker. (7) The annual fee for an inspection sticker is $10.00 per float.
