Well this movie is hardly what I would consider to be a “massacre”. Maybe a light spree although Mardi Gras Light Killing Spree doesn’t work quite as well. Every scene looks like any non-hardcore scene from a 70’s porn. The actual Mardi Gras part of the movie doesn’t start until the last 15 minutes. And that'd be okay if it weren't located next to Amateurtown. I mean, it's a hilarious watch, but this is so full of line flubs, bad acting from pros, bad acting from amateurs, actors READING their lines from sheets of paper, repetitive and stationary camera set-ups, and gore effects with the seams plainly showing that it can be a bit of a chore to get through. The Watched the 88 films UK Blu-ray (unbanned as of January 2023) which is basically the same print and set of extras as the US Severin release. Infamous for being one of the banned video nasties in the early eighties when the UK was caught up in mass hysteria where conservative politicians prosecuted films and people because these video tapes were supposedly dangerous and harmful to society. This The UK VHS tape of Mardi Gras Massacre sports one of the great sleeves of the Video Nasties - a bikini clad busty blonde menaced by a shadowy, hooded maniac with a switchblade. Sadly, this fabulous piece of Exploitation artwork is the best thing about the film, but if you like wooden acting, a nonsensical storyline, porno-style production
