The annual parade celebrates Joan’s birthday — which, if we count back to the Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc’s first procession in 2008, makes this her “Sweet Sixteen.” Coincidentally, Joan’s birthday also falls on the Twelfth Night, Louisiana’s official kick-off of the highly-anticipated Mardi Gras season. Joan of Arc is held in the French Quarter annually on January 6 in honor of the unofficial patron saint's birthday and Twelfth Night. The parade begins at 6 sharp at Jax Brewery on the corner of Decatur and Toulouse. Algiers Mardi Gras Parade and Festival. The Algiers Mardi Gras Parade and Festival will be back on Saturday, February 1 at New Orleans Federal City in Algiers.
