Mardi Gras is just around the corner and all 4-H Clubs should be gearing up because "2024 DINO-Myte Night" is this year's Mardi Gras Theme. Held on the third Saturday of November from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Mardi Gras is not only a fantastically fun social occasion, it is also our annual fund raising event for the Weld County 4-H Foundation! Weld County 4-H Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is a family-oriented celebration that sees all Weld County 4-H Clubs come together for a night of fun, prizes and of course food! The event’s purpose is to raise funds for the Weld County 4-H Foundation. In addition to the fun booths and food at Mardi Gras, we also host a silent auction that generates Mardi Gras has a great history of success for both 4-H and the Community. Weld County 4-H Mardi Gras is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year. It is open to the public from 3:00-9:00 p.m. This is a great way to spend the day with your family having fun and supporting the Weld County 4-H Foundation. The 4-H Foundation has a couple of events that are held each year. The most important one is the Mardi Gras which is the sole fund raiser for the Foundation and is held in November of each year. They also have the annual dinner that is held in April of each year recognizing the upcoming scholarship winners and also the outstanding leaders. Attention Livestock Families, Weld County 4-H and FFA members enrolling in any market and/or breeding livestock or small animal projects for the first time regardless of age, must attend a Colorado Meat Quality Assurance (MQA) program. 4-H and FFA members will be required to attend a Face to Face Colorado MQA program a minimum of twice during Mardi Gras is a fantastically fun social occasion, and it is also our annual fund raising event for the Weld County 4-H Foundation! Community Service Come work a shift at the Weld Food Bank for Community Service. In order for Weld County 4- H members to be eligible for funds from the Weld County 4- H Foundation, thei r club must actively participate with a booth at 4-H Mardi Gras. Annually, the Foundation budgets in excess of $50,000 that is used to provide financial support to Weld County 4- Weld County 4-H Yeti Tailgate Bundle We are holding a Yeti Tailgate Bundle Raffle to raise funds for Weld County 4-H! The Grand Prize is The Ultimate Yeti Tailgate Bundle. The drawing will be held November 18, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the annual Mardi Gras. Great 4-H Club Fundraiser The Weld County 4-H Foundation raffle returns half of the “Without the Mardi Gras piece, what we do wouldn’t be able to happen at the level it does,” said Kim Sterkel, Weld County 4-H Youth Development Agent. “Mardi Gras gives different 4-H clubs the opportunity to work together and engage with our community to give back to 4-H.” It is Weld County’s great fortune that leaders in the community had the foresight and planning in keeping projects funded. Generous people and organizations were willing to give so that the Foundation could be created. Mardi Gras Carnival Fundraiser. The 4-H Mardi Gras Carnival is the Foundation’s major fundraiser. In order to be recognized as a volunteer 4-H leader in Weld County, all NEW leaders must complete the following requirements: 1. Complete a volunteer application through 4-H Online and receive two positive references 2. Complete a 4-H enrollment form through 4-H Online 3. Complete leader training 4. Pass a background check 5. Effective August 1, 2024, Weld County Extension Office has new business hours. They will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Weld County 4-H Scholarship Program. Please refer to the Weld County 4-H Scholarship Page for an updated list of scholarships for specific qualifications for each award. Applicants.
