Ship Size. The Celebration is considered a large size ship. Coming in at 1,130 feet long and 137 feet wide, it's roughly the length of 3.1 football fields, as wide as 2.6 tractor-trailers and the same height as a 17-story building. The Celebration and the Mardi Gras are in the same class, which means they're sister ships. Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are the newest and biggest ships in Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet. Both Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are in the Excel class, with Carnival Jubilee joining them in December 2023.Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras offer more fun than ever before; after all, that is part of their brand! The Excel class of ships are 40% larger than all the other I've done both. I prefer Mardi Gras because 1.) I like sailing from Port Canaveral, 2.) I hate sailing from Miami, and 3.) I like the decor and the bars better on Mardi Gras. Aside from the slight differences already mentioned above, they're the same ship. Emeril's on Celebration has more and nicer seating, menu is the same. I like the specialty bar menus (Latitudes and Golden Jubilee) on Celebration a tiny bit better than two of them on Mardi Gras (Brass Magnolia and Fortune Teller). Otherwise, both are great and I am booked on both next year Both Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras offer Caribbean itineraries ranging from 6 to 9 nights, visiting popular destinations such as Amber Cove, Mahogany Bay, Cozumel, and Nassau. Carnival Celebration is the newest vessel from Carnival, while Mardi Gras showcases New Orleans culture and offers unique features like the BOLT rollercoaster and I have been on both the Celebration and the Mardi Gras. They are basically identical minus some of the theme areas. The Mardi Gras has a New Orleans/Mardi Gras theme while the Celebration is Miami/Art Deco. The biggest difference in venues is two of the bars on deck six. They have different themes and drinks on the two ships. Kids were more on Celebration, but that I believe was just time frame as it was a July cruise vs a Mardi Gras late September. I liked the Port Canaveral overall experience much better than Miami. he Bolt was effectively down the entire cruise on Celebration (saw it run a handful of time), Mardi Gras was operational the entire cruise Just a bit of trivia. The 1397 for Emeril's Bistro stands for the 'Yard Number' at the Meyer Turku Shipyard where the Celebration is being built. Same for the Mardi Gras Emeril's Bistro 1396. When Mardi Gras was being constructed at Meyer Turku, the ship was in Yard Number 1396. Compared to the Carnival Vista, the Mardi Gras is 35% larger in terms of overall tons. I like Vistas itinerary better but since I liked the Horizon so much, I’m not sure how my experience will be on a older ship. Vista is about $160 cheaper as well. Celebration just seems like it’ll be bigger and better than Horizon but I’m hoping someone more experienced in cruises can give me some insight on which to choose. The Mardi Gras/Celebration/Jubilee will have more, and better, fast-casual food options (breakfast and lunch). Guy's Burgers and Shaq's Big Chicken are amazing. Dinner in the main dining room honestly never felt too different to me between the lines (both can have hits and misses depending on the night/sailing). Floral Mardi Gras Dress. A floral dress in Mardi Gras colors can be a refreshing alternative to traditional costumes. Choose a dress with a flowing silhouette and bold purple, green, and gold blooms. Pair it with a headpiece adorned with feathers or beads for a whimsical, yet elegant, outfit. The Shores (Jubilee), 820 Biscayne (Celebration), and La Piazza (Mardi Gras) Grand Central (Jubilee and Mardi Gras) and Celebration Central (Celebration) Currents (Jubilee), The Gateway (Celebration), and French Quarter (Mardi Gras) Excel Class ships feature a themed walkway spanning across Decks 6 and 7 with bars, lounges, and restaurants. One thing I dislike about Wonder of the Seas and other oasis class ships are you really feel separated from the ocean. It can feel a little bit more like a hotel or a mall than a cruise ship sometimes. The Mardi Gras does a much better job of having spots that highlight the water with the lower promenade and other venues.
