My thoughts on Carnival Mardi Gras vs. RC Wonder of the Seas. I had the pleasure of going on both vessels fairly recently (Mardi Gras in January 2022 and Wonder I have just returned from today). These are just my opinions but I figured I'd share in case there are others who are comparing the two. Join us as we compare Carnival's Mardi Gras to Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas. Both ships have seven day itineraries from Port Canaveral. Both are big, new ships. So, do you book Wonder has 3 "main" pools in the middle area, and the adult only area in the very front of the ship is leaps and bounds ahead of Celebration/Mardi Gras. Without knowing what itineraries you're looking at, I will say Royal's island (Coco Cay) is amazing. The two main options we are looking at are the Carnival Mardi Gras and the Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas. However, right now with whatever sales are going on, a balcony room on the Mardi Gras would be cheaper, than an interior room on Wonder of the Seas. Which would be a better choice? The Wonder Of The Seas is currently the largest cruise passenger ship in the world. Be ready for crowds on both ships. If your younger and like a lot of action I would pick the Mardi I am curious if anyone has sailed on one or both could shed some light as I am torn. I am in my 20s booking a college grad trip for me and my SO. Have been on several oasis class ships but never carnival so it could be exciting to try something new. My SO has never been on a cruise before however We are thinking about a Celebration cruise. I saw the ship size, which is significantly smaller than the oasis class of Royal Caribbean and yet, the passenger capacity is about the same. Now my How does the Royal Caribbean Icon of the Seas compare to the Carnival Mardi Gras? The Icon of the Seas was built in 2024. It is 3 years newer than the Mardi Gras, which was built in 2021. See all the differences in terms of size, facilities, and dining options. The Carnival Mardi Gras has 5 fewer bars than the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas. The Mardi Gras has 16 bars like Havana Bar, Punchliner Comedy Club and RedFrog Tiki Bar. On Mardi Gras, you can grab a drink at 21 different bars such as Champagne Bar, Mast Bar and Suite Sun Deck Bar. The Carnival Mardi Gras has 3 more bars than the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas. The Mardi Gras has 16 bars like Piano Bar 88, Punchliner Comedy Club and The Brass Magnolia. On Mardi Gras, you can grab a drink at 13 different bars such as Boleros, Solarium Bar and Star Lounge. The Carnival Mardi Gras has 2 fewer bars than the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas. The Mardi Gras has 16 bars like Alchemy Bar, Center Stage and RedFrog Tiki Bar. On Mardi Gras, you can grab a drink at 18 different bars such as Bionic Bar, Rising Tide Bar and Wipeout Bar. On the flip side, Carnival Mardi Gras is the second largest vessel in Carnival’s fleet, only coming in second to sister-ship Carnival Celebration. In comparison, Mardi Gras is smaller than Harmony of the Seas, weighing 180,000 gross tons and holding 5,500 passengers at full capacity. It's 5 years older than the Mardi Gras, which was built in 2021. The Mardi Gras pays homage to Carnival's first ship, also named the Mardi Gras. It has two unique zones not found on its sister ships: The French Quarter, a New Orleans-themed area, and La Piazza, which is dedicated to the Italian heritage of Carnival cabins. Comparison Overview The Carnival Mardi Gras has 5 more bars than the Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas. The Mardi Gras has 16 bars like Bar Della Rosa, RedFrog Tiki Bar and The Watering Hole. On Mardi Gras, you can grab a drink at 11 different bars such as Boleros, English Pub and Music Hall. Mardi Gras definitely has the better itinerary, but I would personally pick the Oasis over the Mardi Gras in terms of the ship itself. As a disclaimer, I've only been on one of the Oasis' sister ships, the Symphony of the Seas, and haven't been on the new Carnival ships. We are thinking about a Celebration cruise. I saw the ship size, which is significantly smaller than the oasis class of Royal Caribbean and yet, the passenger capacity is about the same. Now my question to those, who have sailed on bo I haven't been on any of the Carnival ships so cannot comment on what they are like. I recently got off the Wonder of the Seas though and I am confident if you chose an Oasis class ship for your cruise you and the kids wont be disappointed. Loads to do for kids and adults alike.
