We understand that many members of the community require additional support in accessing events, services and facilities throughout the city. We were awarded the GOLD award on Attitude is Everything’s Live Events Access Charter in 2019 and re-awarded the Gold award in 2023 for our hard work and commitment to making Pride Cymru as accessible as possible for Deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent Pride Cymru (previously Cardiff Mardi Gras) is an LGBT pride festival held annually in Cardiff, Wales. Pride Cymru's Big Weekend is the biggest celebration of equality and diversity in Wales. Over 3 days, Pride Cymru hosts over 50,000 people in the Welsh capital to raise awareness of equality and diversity and supporting the LGBT+ community. [1] Cardiff's famous big weekend and LGBTQ+ celebration will be back in 2025. Pride Cymru's event is historically known as Cardiff-Wales LGBT Mardi Gras. Annually, the registered charity hosts a community and equality celebration festival. Dates do change, previously, it has been on during the August bank holiday and weekend dates in June or July. Pride Cymru started as Mardi Gras in 1999 with a few thousand people and has grown to 50,000. "But the first celebratory event was in 1999, which was the Cardiff Lesbian and Gay Mardi Gras 3.
