I am trying to figure out where I am staying for an entire week of Mardi Gras. I will stay at The Ritz a few nights, but looking to offset some of that cost by staying at either Sheraton New Orleans Hotel or Hotel Mazarin. Which would be better? It seems like Hotel Mazarin is more centered in the French Quarter while the Sheraton is a bit outside. Hi everyone. The weekend before Mardi Gras all the action is on this route, but Lundi and Mardi Gras most of the action is downtown. Uptown parades (the ones on St. Charles) are the ones with the big elaborate floats that throw all the beads, downtown parades (usually start in the Marigny but go through parts of the French Quarter, Treme and Bywater) are You do not need to bring beads. Looking for Advice on 2025 Mardi Gras Accommodations Planning for a Large Group Lodging I would like to stay on the parade route if possible, or at least do some sort of bar/VIP where I get to be on the parade route in the thick of it. Gotta disagree here. Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras Day are the best time to visit Bourbon -- great costumes, lots of people having fun, etc. It usually isn't shoulder to shoulder those days except maybe at night, and in certain 1/2 block areas. Don’t plan on vacationing in New Orleans during Mardi Gras unless you are coming specifically for Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is also the worst time to experience the "real New Orleans" as the entire city is centered around the parades. Most restaurants and attractions will be closed and there will be insanely long wait times for the ones that are Welcome to Carnival, also known as Mardi Gras. For 2024, Carnival runs from January 6th to February 13th. What, when, and where are the parades? Parades are at the heart of the Mardi Gras experience. Riders and marchers pay handsomely to produce a huge-ass party on wheels, and you’re invited- for free! First time my wife (40) and kid (13) will be back in the area for Mardi Gras. I would like to show them a good time and have no idea of the best parades to go to and the best areas to try to stay in anymore. Usually I try to stay mid ship and without any activities deck like promenade/pool above and under me. On our first cruise, we had restaurants under us and one door that would bang every 15min at least during the night. Might have been an employee access door but that bothered us. The only time I stay on site now is when I'm going to volcano bay because the whole bus to entrance thing sucks. I still want to try one of the express pass hotels, because express passes make a night and day difference on how enjoyable your visit to the parks are, I would strongly recommend it, if in your budget.
