The first recorded Mardi Gras parade didn't happen in New Orleans until 1857, but celebrations and balls were common in the 1700s. Mardi Gras parades and celebrations are about to begin in the Magnolia State, uniting Mississippians from all corners of the state. Although Mardi Gras is traditionally more recognized in the southern part of the state, Mississippians will be excited to see some celebrations scheduled in North Mississippi, too.
