Mardi Gras at The Wharf is Washington DC's biggest Mardi Gras parade. The event on March 1, 2025 will feature floats, beads, fireworks, and live music. Kids can join in on the festivities with Mardi Gras-themed craft stations while the adults sip on Thrasher’s Rum Hurricanes. The celebration will conclude with a fireworks finale over the water. The parade will begin marching along Wharf Street at 3:30 p.m., next to the water, and end at Parker Row, near Hell’s Kitchen. With walkers, jugglers, floats and the Mardi Gras King and Queen, the parade will feature special performances from the Eastern High School Marching Band, Batalá Washington, The Experience Band & Show. The last orders for the 2025 Mardi Gras season are available till Saturday, March 1, on Bayou’s website and can be picked up until Fat Tuesday. Alexandria’s Buzz Bakeshop is taking pre-orders for fluffy and soft purple, green, and gold King Cakes ($35), which can be picked up from Saturday to Fat Tuesday. Mardi Gras at The Wharf is a free event, 3–7 p.m. on March 1, rain or shine. The celebration takes place on District Pier at The Wharf located at 101 District Square SW, Washington, DC 20024.
