Note: Cigar and tobacco pipes are only permitted at outdoor smoking areas on Deck 5 (starboard side, forward) and Deck 11 (starboard side aft). Note: On embarkation and debarkation day, smoking is not allowed outdoors while the ship is refueling. Interior: Mardi Gras Casino - In order to be allowed to smoke in the casino you must be playing at a designated machine or table during the casino's open hours (smoking is not allowed at any tables or games when the casino is closed). We had a balcony cabin on deck 15 directly above the area. We got an occasional whiff of smoke smell even up there. The area was quite lively both day and night. This is not new, smoking has not been allowed during refueling of ships for years now. Well used to the Casino bar allowed smoking and they'd open a temporary smoking area on the opposite side of the ship from the bunkering process, but nowadays the Casino bar is nonsmoking (as is the entire casino). You will enjoy the setup of the casino on the Mardi Gras. Most of the MG casino is non-smoking, including the host stand and the cage. The smokers are in a smaller room, which is adjacent to the casino bar. Because of the setup, there is much less smoke in the main casino. Looking to book a balcony on Mardi Gras and want to avoid smoke smell coming from smoking areas. Does anyone know where the smoking areas are and what side or areas not to book a balcony. TIA The Carnival Mardi Gras has 2641 cabins. You can expect between 5282 to 6338 passengers on a typical sailing. The only place to be wary of is the Casino. Even then, on some ships, there are designated smoke-free casino areas. These tend to be on the ships where the Casino is on two decks. We usually sail on the Dream or Breeze out of Galveston. Both have a smoke-free casino annex on deck 4. Although it is a smaller casino with a smaller selection of slots and table games, it is totally smoke-free and definitely appeals to us. This, absolutely. The Serenity area on the Mardi Gras is great, although it's often windy, like all forward-located Serenity areas. Gotta say I loved the Serenity area on the Imagination (may she r.i.p.), since on the Fantasy-class ships it's in the back, serene and out of the wind. BTW, the Mardi Gras casino is an enclosed area, there are self closing automatic doors at most entrances and exits. Those doors that weren't auto were just hinged, but they still managed to keep most smoke inside the casino and not drift into adjacent areas..
