We took a cruise on Mardi Gras when it was 50% capacity and it was enjoyable. Then we took one when it was at full capacity and not just every room was booked, but supposedly every bed was booked and it sucked. All cruise long we were being pestered to eat at the “specialty dining” options, because the MDR was just too full. Im going on Mardi Gras next February. Really looking forward to it. When we sailed on Mariner of the Seas at the start of the month, Mardi Gras was leaving Port Canaveral at the same time. Everyone in our group was jealous, though mostly because of the roller coaster. The roller coast looks cool, but im not excited about spending $15/ride. The Mardi Gras on the other hand looks amazing; I feel like one could definitely spend 8 days there. It would be one thing if there was only one sea day, but considering that half of the cruise would be composed of sea days, I would definitely want more entertainment and a more relaxing room. If you cruise for the food and drinks, Mardi Gras will not let you down. Our meal at Rudi's Sea Grill was the best dining experience I've ever had on Carnival. So many good dining options onboard is a huge plus. Shaq's Big Chicken is the best fast food at sea. Emeril's is great for New Orleans style seafood. We did our first cruise on the Carnival Paradise in 2013 then went on NCL Epic in 2019. Both the ships were smaller relative to the Mardi Gras. The included food options available on Mardi Gras were above and beyond what we expected. The bigger the ship though, the more people. There are trade offs. It's been a minute, but we last cruised on Mardi Gras. We had booked a balcony suite for ourselves and our kid, who is a teen. A couple of months before the cruise I was phoned by Carnival and offered an upgrade to the Presidential Suite - the largest cabin on the ship - for a $2500 upgrade cost. I took the bait and am very glad I did. We were on the Mardi Gras last week and had a great time. Loved the show time at dining and the stuff at center stage was cooler than I expected it to be. All of the included food was pretty decent. The main dining got a little too slow in the last day or two. I liked that we got to eat at the Italian restaurant and Chibang once each for free Just off the Mardi-Gras this morning with a couple of cabin location suggestions . Balcony cabins midship-stern on the starboard sign you may smell the smokers below you (if that bothers you) If you can grab one of those balconies that begin a row of cabins of the same category , as #14495 as we had. (same cruise rate as cabins) next door . We are planning on sailing June 2022 for our 30th anniversary and decided last night on the Mardi Gras! We saw 2 cabins- deck 11 ( cabin 11300) and deck 14 (cabin 14333.) The deck 11 cabin is closer to the elevators and is a connecting cabin. Well I am home and wanted to share with everyone my experience with going on the Carnival Mardi Gras during Covid. It was my 14 year old son and I, flying Ottawa to Orlando, Dec 26th - Jan 2nd (please note the holidays in there as that affected some of the things that happened) I am a very organi Im going on Mardi Gras next February. So I went on the Mardi Gras back in 2022 and now have it booked again for September 2024. I haven't kept up with any updates on it, but when we first went on it, all the dining options except for the Steakhouse, Seafood, and Hibachi place were free of charge for lunch and dinner. It doesn't say which boat is which in the pictures, but I would go with the 7 day cruise from Port Canaveral assuming they are similarly priced. I haven't been on Mardi Gras but people have nothing but good things to say about the newer Carnival ships like Mardi Gras/Celebration. The ports on the 7 day are much better. Mardi Gras definitely has the better itinerary, but I would personally pick the Oasis over the Mardi Gras in terms of the ship itself. As a disclaimer, I've only been on one of the Oasis' sister ships, the Symphony of the Seas, and haven't been on the new Carnival ships. Welcome to r/Tacoma, The Subreddit of Destiny. Much like the city, this forum is a dusty old jewel of Puget Sound. Some spend all day talking about how gritty it is, others simply think this is where trucks were invented, but Tacoma is a beautiful city filled with art, food, beer, music, nature and people. I also had an issue where it didn't ask for my preferred dining time when I booked my Mardi Gras cruise. Maitre D allowed us to switch to early no problem. The Mardi Gras is superb. I think Lee (cruise director) may not be on there anymore, but he was the best one I've ever had. Have fun! Had no problems, I was able to surf FB, Twitter and Reddit, texting and FaceTiming our group and my family back home. Not really able to stream stuff like Netflix, etc. I just downloaded things I wanted to watch to my tablet. I’m under the impression that some of the newer ships are Starlink capable. Mardi Gras included.
