The Excel-class ship, Mardi Gras, is a 181,000 gross ton vessel and the sister ship to the latest Carnival Jubilee. These ships can carry 5,374 passengers at double capacity and are 1,130 feet Carnival Jubilee is most similar in size to Icon of the Seas, although not nearly as massive. The newest ship from Carnival Cruise Line is about 72% the size of Icon, measuring 183,521 gross tons. She is the sister ship to Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras in the Excel Class, each measuring 1,130 feet long. I did like the glass door shower compared to the previous curtain on older Carnival ships, but the bathroom was very narrow on Mardi Gras. Crowds: I think crowd management was better on Oasis vs Mardi Gras. It seemed like every spot of open deck space on Mardi Gras had a bar in it, which limited space and made it difficult to relax. The Carnival Mardi Gras has 4 fewer bars than the Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas. The Mardi Gras has 16 bars like Fortune Teller Bar, Grand View and Havana Bar. On Mardi Gras, you can grab a drink at 20 different bars such as English Pub, The Lime & Coconut and The Mason Jar. Nothing on Celebration/Mardi Gras compared to it. I see why they have Utopia going back and forth from it every 3/4 days, it's a huge draw. Not sure about the kids part of that either. The Wonder of the Seas is a boat about the big stuff. big shows, big dinners, big crowds. The Mardi Gras is set up to be a lot more like cruising a downtown at night.
